Purpose

In the efforts of continuing the “Kingdom” mindset of doing ministry together in the CSRA, we are looking to do a New Year’s event over this year’s Christmas break that is simple enough to adjust in case of more Covid-19 issues and still have the excellence of a large retreat. We desire to make this event conference style with large session times (worship and message), small groups, breakout sessions (for students and leaders), creative moments (games and entertainment), and fellowship over meals and snacks.

Meet the Team

Speaker:
James Barnes

My name is James Barnes, and currently I am serving as the youth pastor at West Acres Baptist Church. I graduated from North Greenville University in May of 2019 and have been back in Augusta serving at my home church since. Nothing gives me more joy than to see students truly understand and fall in love with Jesus Christ. I am passionate about the local church and student ministry, but more importantly the Lord, which is the reason we gather for this event. Some of my favorite things to do are mountain bike, shop for books at used bookstores, visit local coffee shops and go to metal concerts with my college roommates. I have an immense love for theology, the Atlanta Braves, my family and my beautiful girlfriend of almost 4 years. In 24 years of life, I have learned one thing though that I pray will be what you gather this weekend and that is nothing else matters but Christ and Christ alone. I am looking forward to serving and sharing with you this week! May God fill us through His word here at Dwell. Soli Deo Gloria

Worship:
Erick Sostre

My name is Erick Sostre, and I currently serve in a small house-church community. I've led worship in student ministries for over 10 years, and my heart is to see students and leaders surrender themselves in worship to Jesus Christ because of who He is and what He's done for us. I've spent most of my life in Augusta, graduating from Augusta University in December 2016, and now I'm currently an online Masters of Theology student at Dallas Theological Seminary. I love coffee, music (a current favorite being The Brook and the Bluff), traveling, and reading theology for fun. For this event, I want to see students all over the CSRA gather to lift up the name of Jesus together and be a light to this community that shows the heart of the Father for the lost. I can't wait to see what the Lord will do as we lay everything down to dwell with Jesus.

Friday (1/1)

Churches are free to choose if they want to do Friday on their own. The goal would be to use this morning to create next steps for your students on how they can walk out what God has done in their lives. Churches may also just send their students home from New Passion.
